How to Get on an Inmate's Visitors List at Goodman Unit
Getting approved to visit at the Goodman Unit means going through TDCJ's Visitors List and Online Visitation Scheduler. Once you understand the limits and steps, it's a straightforward process.
Visiting at the Goodman Unit starts with the inmate's Visitors List - the official roster of people they can see during approved hours. Here's the key rule: each inmate can have a maximum of 10 names on their list. If it's already full, someone has to be removed before you can be added.
List changes aren't unlimited. Institutional inmates can add or delete names once every six months. State jail, ISF, and SAFP inmates can make changes once every 60 days. Keep this timing in mind if you're waiting for a spot to open up.
First, you'll need to create your own account in the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler. TDCJ staff can't do this for you. If you're helping a family member who isn't comfortable online, you can guide them through it - but they still need to be the one creating the account.
Note: Once an email address is used to create a scheduler account, that account can’t be deleted and the email address can’t be changed.
- Enter your email address - start the account creation process using the email you want tied to your scheduler account.
- Check your email for the validation message - you’ll receive a link and a 7-digit validation code.
- Complete registration using the link and code - follow the link and enter the 7-digit code to finish setting up your account.
- Add the inmate to your profile - search using the inmate’s TDCJ or SID number (it must be 8 digits).
- Choose your relationship - select your relationship to the inmate in the scheduler.
- Submit your request - click Request Approval to send your Relationship Request.
Choosing your relationship to the inmate isn't just a formality. The unit uses this information when reviewing your request. When you click Request Approval, your submission goes to the inmate's assigned unit so staff can verify the relationship.
Submitting your request doesn't mean instant approval. Your Relationship Request goes to the inmate's unit, where TDCJ staff verifies the connection. Once verified, whether you can actually schedule a visit depends on the inmate's current visitation status.
Note: If your relationship is confirmed but the inmate’s visitation privileges have been removed, you’ll see “Not Approved for Visits” where the Schedule Visit button would normally appear.
