Registering Your Phone to Receive Calls from an Inmate at Goodman Unit

Receiving calls from someone at the Goodman Unit starts with one step: registering your phone number through the Texas Inmate Telephone Friends & Family Enrollment system. Have the person's TDCJ ID number handy before you begin - you can't complete enrollment without it.

Note: You’ll need the inmate’s TDCJ ID number to register your phone number, so track that down first.

  1. Get the inmate’s TDCJ ID number - you’ll need it to complete Friends & Family Enrollment.
  2. Look up the TDCJ ID if you don’t have it - use the online inmate search, or call (936) 295-6371 or (800) 535-0283.
  3. Register your phone number online - use the Texas Inmate Telephone Friends & Family Enrollment page and follow the prompts to enroll your number.

Need help? There are two phone lines depending on your situation. If you don't know the inmate's TDCJ ID number, call (936) 295-6371 or (800) 535-0283 to look it up. For registration questions, the TDCJ telephone help line is (866) 806-7804, available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Who Registers

  • You are the registered owner of the telephone number.
  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • The name on your driver license or state ID matches the name on your telephone listing or bill.

Registering means agreeing to the calling rules for that number. You're confirming the inmate can call you - and agreeing not to forward calls, set up three-way calls, or use speakerphone during conversations.

Phone access runs from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. most days, though schedules can shift. Each call maxes out at 30 minutes. You'll hear a one-minute warning before the line cuts off - so save any last-minute details or goodbyes for before that final stretch.

Reminder: Calls cap at 30 minutes, with a one-minute warning before disconnect.

Having issues with the phone vendor or service? You can file a complaint through the ITS Contact Form, email offenderphones@tdcj.texas.gov, or mail it to the TDCJ Inmate Technology Services Contract Manager at PO Box 4016, Huntsville, TX 77342-4016.
