Goodman Unit Visiting Hours: What You Need to Know Before You Go

Contact visits at TDCJ units, including the Goodman Unit, happen on weekends only. Hours are Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Plan your drive accordingly.

Visits run both days, but each inmate can only have one visit per weekend. If multiple people are on the approved list, coordinate before anyone makes the trip. Show up after someone else has already visited, and you'll be turned away.

How often your loved one can receive contact visits depends on their custody level. Inmates in G1, J1, and J2 classifications are eligible for one contact visit per week. Other classifications may have different limits, so check what applies to your situation.

Traveling a long way? Ask about an extended visit before you go. Extended visits may be available if you're traveling more than 250 miles one way, but approval is at the warden's discretion and depends on space and time that day.

An approved extended visit can last up to four hours - longer than a standard visit. Since approval isn't guaranteed, confirm it's been granted before counting on the extra time.

Note: Visitation info updates once daily on weekdays and multiple times on visiting days. Call the unit before you travel to confirm visitation hasn't been canceled.
