How to Send Money to Facility

For the Florida DOC court-ordered payment deposit process, the maximum amount depends on how you pay. Money orders are capped at $999.99. Cashier's checks and certified bank drafts can go up to $10,000. There's no fee to send money by any of these three methods under this process.

  • Do not send cash.
  • Do not send checks issued by businesses or employers.
  • Do not send payments through online bill-paying services.
  • Do not include letters or notes with your payment.

Heads up: If you send a money order, cashier's check, or certified bank draft through JPay and then place a stop payment on it, you'll be responsible for reimbursing JPay for any bank fees or insufficient-fund charges that result.

  1. Match your amount to the state maximum. Keep money orders at or under $999.99, and keep cashier’s checks or certified bank drafts at or under $10,000 for Florida DOC court-ordered mailed payments.
  1. Use an allowed payment type. Send a money order, cashier’s check, or certified bank draft.
  2. Avoid disallowed items. Do not send cash, business or employer checks, or payments from online bill-pay services.
  3. Send the payment only. Leave out letters and notes so the deposit is not delayed or rejected.
  1. Do not stop payment after you send it through JPay. If you initiate a stop payment on a money order, cashier’s check, or certified bank draft, you must reimburse JPay for any bank fees or insufficient-fund charges that result.

What to Verify

  • Confirm the current state maximums for court-ordered mailed payments ($999.99 for money orders, $10,000 for cashier’s checks or certified bank drafts).
  • Confirm the court-ordered deposit process still states there is no fee for sending money by money order, cashier’s check, or certified bank draft.
  • Confirm you are using the correct court-ordered payment mailing procedure (including the correct address and any required form details) for the Florida DOC process.
  • Confirm cash is still not accepted for the court-ordered payment deposit process.
  • Confirm checks from businesses or employers are still not accepted.
  • Confirm payments initiated through online bill-paying services are still not accepted.
  • Confirm letters and notes are still not allowed in the envelope with the payment.

Heads up: Before sending funds through JPay, check their current stop-payment policy. You could be on the hook for bank fees or NSF charges if a stop payment is placed.
