How to Schedule an In-Person Visit at Grants (NENMCF)

In-person visits at NENMCF are barrier visits - non-contact by default. The exception: immediate family members who can prove kinship may be allowed contact visits. Every visitor must also read and sign the Visitor Statement of Understanding before any visit can take place.

Note: Immediate family members wanting contact visits need proof of kinship. The policy doesn't specify which documents qualify, so confirm what to bring when you schedule.

How to Schedule an In-Person Visit at Grants (NENMCF)

NENMCF conducts in-person visits Monday through Friday. If you’re traveling from out of town, plan around weekday availability so you’re not trying to arrive on a day visits aren’t offered.

Time-sensitive: In-person visits must be scheduled at least one week in advance.

Visits run in two-hour blocks: 8:00 am–10:00 am, 10:00 am–12:00 pm, or 1:00 pm–3:00 pm. Pick the slot that works best with your travel plans.

Many families travel long distances to reach NENMCF, so the facility offers a two-day visit option. You can schedule two consecutive days - two hours each day (Monday & Tuesday, for example). A morning block gets you back on the road earlier; an afternoon slot works better if you're driving in the same day.

Not everyone at NENMCF can receive visits. People in restrictive housing on disciplinary or PHD status aren't allowed visitors. Before booking travel, confirm the person's current housing status allows visitation.

What to Have Ready

  • A valid photo ID for each visitor
  • Confirmation that you’re an approved/registered visitor (if applicable to your situation)
  • A signed Visitor Statement of Understanding (required before any visit)
  • If requesting a contact visit as immediate family: proof of kinship (confirm what documents are accepted when you schedule)

Video visits aren't scheduled through the facility. They're handled through Smart Communication on inmate tablets, and you'll need NMCD approval before you can schedule one.
