Grayson County Jail's Three‑Visitor Rule: How Approved Visitors Work

Visiting someone at Grayson County Jail can feel confusing the first time — mostly because of one rule that catches families off guard: only three people can be "approved" at a time. Here's how the three-visitor rule works, when it resets, and what to do if you're not on the list yet.

Grayson County Jail's Three‑Visitor Rule: How Approved Visitors Work

At Grayson County Jail, the approved visitor list is set by who shows up first. The first three people who visit an inmate become that inmate’s approved visitors for the entire month.

In-person visitation runs first-come, first-served, so timing matters. Visits are held Tuesday through Saturday, and the jail's visitation week starts on Tuesday. That means the "first three" are whoever actually gets in to visit first - so coordinating that initial visit of the week (or the first visit after a monthly reset) can make a real difference.

Planning tip: Even if you’re one of the approved three, you can only visit once per visitation week (and the week starts on Tuesday).

You can't swap the approved visitor list day-to-day. The jail only allows changes on the first Tuesday of each month, so this resets on a monthly schedule - not whenever someone requests it.

Since the visitation week starts on Tuesday, that first-Tuesday timing is key for planning. Even once you're approved, you only get one in-person visit per week. Families often do best when they coordinate who will use their weekly slot and aim for a Tuesday visit when trying to establish (or re-establish) the three approved visitors for the month.

If Not First Three

  • Show up early for in-person visitation - visits are first-come, first-served.
  • Focus your attempts on Tuesday through Saturday, since those are the in-person visiting days.

Not one of the first three approved visitors this month? Video visitation is a solid backup. Video visits are available from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, unless the inmate is on visitation restriction.

  1. Find out whether the three spots are already taken - if three people have already visited this month, you won’t be added just by showing up.
  2. Plan for the monthly reset - the approved visitor list can be changed on the first Tuesday of each month.
  3. Coordinate your first in-person visit after the change - since the first three people who visit become the approved visitors for the entire month, timing that first visit is what puts you on (or keeps you off) the list.

Phone access is often the most reliable way to coordinate plans with your person inside. Grayson County Jail uses Correct Solutions Group for inmate phone services. To set up an account, go to WWW.CSGPAY.COM and use facility code 24102.

Messaging is another option, available for a fee through JailATM. Keep in mind that messaging can be restricted for disciplinary reasons or during certain times of day, so it may not always be available when you need it.

  • If you need to be added, plan around the first Tuesday of the month, when the approved list can be changed.
  • Build your visit plans around the jail’s schedule: the visitation week starts Tuesday.
  • Don’t double-book the same person - each approved visitor only gets one in-person visit per visitation week.
  • If you’re trying to become one of the three, aim for a Tuesday–Saturday in-person visit as early as you can.
