Greenville County Detention Center Visiting Hours by Building

Greenville County Detention Center offers visitation seven days a week - you're not limited to weekends. The trick is matching your visit day and time to the correct building (and sometimes the specific unit).

Visitation runs daily, but each inmate gets only two visits per week. Each visit lasts 30 minutes. If those two slots are already used for the week, you'll be turned away - even if you arrive during normal hours.

Building Two runs on a schedule that varies by housing assignment, so your time slot depends on where the inmate is housed. It's also first-come, first-serve - expect lines and limited availability rather than a guaranteed appointment. Check the Building Two schedule for the specific pod and time window before you go.

The Building Four Video Visitation Office is located in the Public Lobby of Building Two. It's open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the last visit accepted at 5:30 p.m. Don't cut it close if you're driving in or expecting a wait.

Building Four housing visitation generally runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Like Buildings One and Two, it's first-come, first-serve. Arriving earlier gives you more breathing room.

If your loved one is in Building Four SHU (isolation), the schedule is tighter. Visit windows are 8:00 a.m.–10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.–2:30 p.m. Plan around those narrower time ranges.

Building One isolation (SHU) visits for males are at 2:00 p.m. each day. Build your day around that single time slot.

Building One isolation (SHU) visits for females are at 2:30 p.m. each day. Arrive early enough to get checked in before the window starts.

Building One visitation is first-come, first-serve. If you're unsure about rules for a particular housing area, check the Building One visitation schedule to confirm the correct slot before heading out.

First Come Tips

  • Arrive early, especially for Buildings One, Two, and Four, since visits are first-come, first-serve.
  • Bring your picture ID.
  • Check the building-specific schedule for the exact time tied to the inmate’s housing.
  • Expect limited availability in first-come units and plan for possible waits.

Reminder: Building Four housing hours (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) differ from the Video Visitation Office hours (8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., last accepted at 5:30 p.m.). Give yourself time to arrive and get processed before cutoff.
