Visiting Hours by Building: When You Can See Your Loved One at Greenville County Detention Center

Greenville County Detention Center offers visitation seven days a week. The exact timing depends on your loved one's housing assignment, so figure out their building before you make the trip.

Each inmate gets two visits per week, and each visit lasts 30 minutes. If you're juggling work, childcare, or a long drive, keep that weekly limit in mind - you don't want to use up both visits early in the week.

Building One has separate times for isolation housing. Isolation male visiting is at 2:00 p.m., and isolation female visiting is at 2:30 p.m. Not sure if your loved one is in isolation? Confirm their housing status before you go - it'll save you a wasted trip.

Reminder: Visitation runs seven days a week, but each inmate is limited to two 30-minute visits per week. Plan your Building One visit accordingly.

Buildings One, Two, and Four operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. The order visitors are helped matters just as much as the posted hours, so timing your arrival makes a real difference.

For Building Two and Building Four, visitation for housing units 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A, and 4B runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. That's your main window to plan around.

Planning tip: The 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. window for units 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A, and 4B can fill up fast. Arriving earlier helps.

Building Four video visitation is handled through the Video Visitation Office in the public lobby of Building Two. The office is open 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, with the last visit accepted at 5:30 p.m. Planning an evening visit? That 5:30 p.m. cutoff is the key time to remember.

The Special Housing Unit (SHU) has its own visiting windows: 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

SHU placement can affect visitation eligibility. If someone is in SHU for disciplinary reasons, they become eligible for visits on the seventh day after arriving in the unit.
