What to Wear (and What Not to Bring) When Visiting Greenville County Detention Center
Visiting someone at Greenville County Detention Center goes smoothly when you show up with the right ID, dress conservatively, and keep your belongings to a minimum.
To get in, you’ll need a picture ID that matches the name on the inmate’s visitor list. Acceptable identification can include a driver’s license, a State ID card, or another picture ID. If the name on your ID doesn’t match what’s on the list, you can be stopped at check-in - so make sure everything lines up before you go.
At check-in, staff will have you surrender your picture ID before you’re allowed into the facility. You’ll be issued a visitor badge instead, and you’re expected to keep that badge visible the entire time you’re inside the secure portion of the detention center.
When your visit ends, return the visitor badge and you'll get your ID back.
