What NOT to Put in a Letter to Guadalupe County Jail (items that will be refused)
Sending a letter to someone at Guadalupe County Jail? Keep it simple. Mail with anything stuck on, sprinkled in, or applied to the paper gets refused and returned. That includes things that seem harmless - a sticker seal, a bit of glitter on a card. You'll lose time and postage over it. Stick with a basic letter in a plain envelope, using clean, unaltered paper.
- ✓ Stickers
- ✓ Glitter
- ✓ Lipstick (including kiss marks)
- ✓ Perfume or cologne (including scented paper)
- ✓ Bodily fluids
Refusal warning: If your mail contains any of the items above, Guadalupe County Jail will refuse it and return it to the sender.
Photos have an extra rule: nude or sexually explicit images aren't accepted. If you're unsure whether something crosses the line, pick a different photo. Otherwise it'll be rejected.
Don't send physical printed photos expecting them to be handed over directly. The facility scans photos and delivers them digitally - they won't print photos or accept physical copies for the inmate.
- Use plain paper and a plain envelope - skip decorative stationery that has add-ons or coatings.
- Leave off anything sticky - don’t seal with stickers or include sticker decorations.
- Keep it clean and unscented - avoid glitter, perfume/cologne, or anything applied to the paper like lipstick.
- Never include anything contaminated - mail with bodily fluids will be refused and returned.
- ✓ Use the inmate’s full name exactly as it was recorded when they were booked
- ✓ Include the inmate’s SO# on the envelope
Bodily fluids are explicitly banned from mail. Any letter or envelope that's stained or contaminated will be refused and sent back for safety reasons.
