Gwinnett County Jail Mail: The Postcard-Only Rule and What You Must Know
Sending mail to someone at Gwinnett County Jail? Here's the key rule: personal mail must be a postcard, and it has to go through the jail's central mail processing address.
The rule is simple: except for legal correspondence, all incoming mail to inmates must be a postcard. Regular letters in envelopes won't be accepted. Certain mail types get handled differently (legal correspondence, religious mail, packages, and money orders have their own procedures). For general mail, send your postcard to the central mail processing facility at JailATM.com, addressed to Gwinnett County Jail. Always include the inmate's full name and ID number so it reaches the right person.
Note: Legal correspondence is excluded from the postcard-only rule.

- ✓ Do not use a postcard larger than 4.25 × 6 inches
- ✓ Write in black or blue ink, or pencil
- ✓ Include the sender’s name
- ✓ Include a complete return address
Mail regular postcards to the central mail processing address below, and make sure you address it to Gwinnett County Jail (via JailATM.com) with the inmate name and inmate ID number on the postcard: JailATM.com – Gwinnett County Jail Inmate Name / Inmate ID# 925B Peachtree St. NE Box 2062 Atlanta, GA 30309
Gwinnett County Jail classifies certain substances as "biohazards," including lipstick and perfumes. Don't kiss the card or spray it with fragrance. Even if it seems harmless, mail like that can be rejected.
What happens after a rejection depends on where your mail gets stopped. If it's rejected at Gwinnett County Jail itself, the item gets returned to you (assuming you included a return address). No return address? It goes back to the post office. If the Central Mail Processing Facility rejects your mail, the outcome is harsher: it gets destroyed.
One more thing: if your mail is scanned and then rejected, those scanned images are stored electronically for investigative purposes.
Appeal: To appeal a mail rejection, contact the mailroom supervisor at 770-619-6594 within 30 days of receiving the returned item. For rejected packages, contact the Inmate Services supervisor at 770-822-3925 within 30 days.
