Sending Money

How to Send Money to Facility

Trying to put money on someone's account at a Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) facility? The biggest thing to get right is where you send it. Mailing cash or checks to the facility won't work.

How to Send Money to Facility

Don't mail money directly to VADOC facilities or headquarters. That means no cash, no checks, and nothing else considered an item of monetary value. Send any of those and they'll be rejected, which leads to delays and frustration when you're just trying to help.

For mailed deposits, the approved route is sending a money order through JPay with a JPay deposit slip. Once JPay receives the money order, funds are typically available to the inmate within three business days.

How to Send Money to Facility

Steps to Follow

  • Do not mail cash, checks, or other items of monetary value directly to a VADOC facility or headquarters. They will be rejected.
  • Mail your money order with a JPay deposit slip to: JPay, P.O. Box 278170, Miramar, FL 33027.
  • After JPay receives the money order, funds should be available to the inmate within three business days.

Before you send anything, double-check the current JPay mailing address and make sure you include a JPay deposit slip. Keep the three-business-day timeline in mind (that clock starts when JPay receives the money order, not when you mail it). If anything has changed, the facility or JPay will have the latest instructions.
