What You Can Actually Bring Into Hamilton Work Camp Visiting Area
Anyone 16 or older needs a valid photo ID to enter the visiting area. Bring just one - extra IDs and unapproved personal items slow down the check-in process.
Vehicle keys: You can bring one (1) vehicle key into the visiting area. Keyless entry devices aren’t allowed unless the duty warden (or designee) visually inspects the device and approves it.
You can bring cash for vending machines, but the limits are strict. Each visitor - regardless of age - can carry up to $50.00 in $1, $5, $10, or $20 bills. That money is only for snacks and drinks from the visiting area machines. You cannot give any cash to an inmate.
Infant Supplies
- ✓ Up to five (5) diapers
- ✓ Three (3) clear baby bottles
- ✓ Two (2) toddler sipper cups
- ✓ Three (3) clear plastic jars of sealed (unopened) baby food
Plan ahead: Stick to the exact quantities and make sure baby food is sealed (unopened). If you bring extras, you’ll need to secure them off-site before you can visit.
- Do not bring needles or syringes onto the property - they are not allowed.
- Leave the institution to get your injection - if you require a medical injection, you must go off-site for it.
- Return after your injection - you’re allowed to come back after you’ve received it.
Safety rule: Never bring needles/syringes into any facility or leave them anywhere on facility grounds.
Brought something that's not on the approved list - or more than the allowed amount? You won't be able to take it inside. If it's not contraband or illegal, you'll need to store it somewhere safe off-site before your visit can proceed.
Keyless entry fobs and similar devices aren't automatically allowed inside. If a keyless fob is your only way to access your vehicle, the duty warden or designee must visually inspect and approve it before you can bring it in.
