Create and Troubleshoot Your TDCJ Visitation Scheduler Account (Hamilton Unit visitors)

Visiting someone at the Hamilton Unit starts with setting up your own account in the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler. From there, you'll add the person you want to visit and wait for TDCJ to approve the relationship request.

You need to create your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account. Unit staff can't do this for you, though they can help update certain details (like names and addresses) once your account already exists. Head to the official TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler login page to get started.

  1. Open the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler login page - Use the official TDCJ scheduler site in your internet browser.
  2. Choose “Create an Account” - This starts the first-time registration process.
  3. Enter your email address and submit - Use an email you can access right now, since you will need it immediately.
  4. Check your email for the validation message - TDCJ sends a 7-digit validation code and a link by email.
  5. Use the code and link to finish registration - Follow the prompts to complete setup so you can log in and manage visits.

Warning: Pick your email carefully. Once an account is created for an email address, the account cannot be deleted and the email address on the account cannot be changed.

Once you're logged in, add the inmate to your profile using their TDCJ or SID number. The number must be exactly 8 digits. Don't know it? Use the TDCJ Offender Search feature on the TDCJ website to look it up before trying to add them.

After you submit the request, don't be surprised if you can't schedule right away. Until TDCJ staff approve the relationship, it stays listed on your home page under "Relation Requests Pending Approval." Once approved, it moves out of that pending area and you can go ahead and schedule your visit (when the scheduler allows it).

If the "Schedule Visit" button is blank or has been replaced with "Call Unit," the scheduler is telling you to arrange the visit by phone. Call the inmate's unit of assignment (Hamilton Unit, if that's where they're housed) to schedule directly.

Practical Tips

  • ✓ Use an email address you control long-term. The account cannot be deleted, and the email on the account cannot be changed.
  • ✓ After you submit your email during registration, watch for the message with the 7-digit validation code and the registration link, you will need both to finish setup.
  • ✓ Call the unit for final confirmation before you travel. Visitation information is updated and unit cancellations can happen.
