Visiting Someone at Hancock State Prison (GA): Days, Hours, and What to Expect
Visiting at Hancock State Prison follows a strict schedule, and the right day depends on whether your loved one is in General Population or Tier I/II. Here's how to plan your trip and submit your request before the cutoff.
General Population visits happen on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Sundays work too - same hours, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Tier I and Tier II inmates have a different schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Note: On state holidays, Hancock follows the same Saturday/Sunday schedule (9:00 AM–3:00 PM) for General Population only.
Hancock is designated as a Tier I & II facility, so there's a separate visitation schedule for those inmates. If your loved one is classified Tier I/II, their visits are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM - not during weekend General Population hours.
You'll need to submit a request through the Georgia Department of Corrections visitation form (available on the GDC site) to schedule your visit.
- ✓ For weekend visits, the cutoff to request visitation is 5:00 PM on Wednesday of the same week.
- ✓ For state holidays, the cutoff to request visitation is 5:00 PM three days before the holiday.
Double-check you're planning around the right schedule. General Population visits are Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Tier I/II visits are Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Since Hancock houses both populations, your timing depends entirely on your loved one's designation.
Don't want a wasted trip? Treat the visit request as your go/no-go step. Submit through the Georgia DOC visitation form first, then plan your travel around the confirmed visit.
Holiday planning: General Population holiday visitation follows the weekend schedule (Saturday/Sunday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM), but holiday visit requests have an earlier deadline - 5:00 PM three days before the holiday.
