How Phone Calls and Phone Funding Work for Hardeman County Corrections: Rates, Approved Numbers, and All Deposit Options
Phone calls at Hardeman County Corrections follow Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) rules: your loved one calls you, your number must be approved, and funding depends on which account type you choose. Here's how it all works—including the current rate and every deposit option available to families.
TDOC rules don't allow inmates to receive inbound calls. You can't call the facility and ask to be connected, and there's no way to leave a callback request through the phone system. Every call has to be placed from inside by the inmate using the approved calling setup.
Emergency option: In a family emergency, contact the facility chaplain. The chaplain may be able to facilitate a phone call for the inmate when necessary.
TDOC calls through ConnectNetwork cost $0.075 per minute (7.5 cents). This rate took effect July 1, 2024 - use it when estimating what staying in touch will cost.
The phone platform connected with TDOC is GTL/ConnectNetwork. Families can set up an account to fund an AdvancePay prepaid telephone account. The same system also lets you create, send, and receive e-messages with inmates.
Calls can only go to numbers on the inmate's approved telephone list. TDOC allows up to ten numbers - family, friends, and other contacts. Be intentional about which numbers get added, especially if multiple relatives are sharing those slots.
- Submit a written request - Ask to be removed from the inmate’s approved telephone list by sending a written request to the facility warden or superintendent.

Timing matters when you need funds available quickly. ConnectNetwork says automated deposits for AdvancePay, PinDebit, and DebitLink are available immediately. Automated deposits for Trust Fund accounts are transmitted to the facility within one business day.
For money deposits to an inmate's trust account, TDOC works with two vendors: JPay and ViaPath/ConnectNetwork. TDOC provides vendor contact details if you need help choosing a deposit method, fixing a posting issue, or confirming which account received your funds.
Deciding how to pay for calls? Start with who you want the money to sit with. AdvancePay (through GTL/ConnectNetwork) funds calls to your specific phone number - good if you mainly want to ensure your line can receive calls. PinDebit works differently: it funds the inmate's calling account, so they draw from that balance when placing calls. Either way, automated deposits for AdvancePay, PinDebit, and DebitLink are available immediately - helpful if you're trying to get calling working the same day.
Prefer to buy telephone credits by mail? TDOC allows family and friends to send funds directly to Global Tel*Link at: Global Tel*Link Corporation Dept 1705, Denver, CO 80291-1705.
Reminder: TDOC provides vendor contact details for JPay and ViaPath/ConnectNetwork. Use the vendor’s current instructions for the deposit method you choose, especially for mail-in payments.
