How Phone Calls Work at Hardeman County Corrections: Rates, Approved Numbers, Emergency Calls, and Funding Options
Phone calls at Hardeman County Corrections follow Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) rules. Here's how calling works, what it costs, how the approved-number list works, what to do in an emergency, and how to add funds for calls or accounts.
TDOC does not allow inbound telephone calls to inmates. You can't call the facility and ask to be connected to your loved one, even if the situation feels urgent. All phone contact has to be initiated from inside, using the approved phone process.
Emergency option: In a family emergency, contact facility staff and ask for the chaplain. The chaplain may facilitate a phone call when necessary.
The current ConnectNetwork per-minute rate through TDOC is 7.5 cents. This rate took effect July 1, 2024. It's the baseline cost to plan around when budgeting for regular calls.
TDOC uses GTL's ConnectNetwork as the primary platform for the inmate telephone system. As a family member or friend, you can create a ConnectNetwork account to fund an AdvancePay prepaid telephone account. You may also be able to send and receive e-messages with an inmate through that same platform.
Calls are controlled by an approved-number list. Each inmate can have up to ten telephone numbers on their list, and the phone system only connects calls to those registered numbers. If your number isn't on the list, the call won't go through.
- Write a removal request - State that you want to be removed from an inmate’s approved telephone list.
- Address it to the facility leadership - Submit the written request to the facility’s warden or superintendent.
- Send your request and keep a copy - Hold onto a copy of what you submitted for your records.
There are a few different "buckets" money can go into, and each serves a different purpose. ConnectNetwork supports automated deposits for AdvancePay, PinDebit, and DebitLink, all designed for phone-related use. Separately, TDOC also maintains inmate trust fund accounts. TDOC partners with JPay and ViaPath (ConnectNetwork) to let you deposit money directly into those trust fund accounts.
