How to Schedule Your First Visit at Harford County Detention Center

Harford County Detention Center (HCDC) requires registration before you can visit. You'll create a visitor account through GTL VisitMe, then use that account to schedule and manage visits. One quirk: HCDC recommends using Google Chrome. If the site acts up in another browser, switch to Chrome and try again.

Note: HCDC can cancel or suspend visitation for security or health reasons with no notice. If a visit is canceled, the notice goes to the email address you used when you registered/scheduled.

  1. Go to the Harford County GTL VisitMe portal - Use the Harford County-specific VisitMe site (harfordcountymd.gtlvisitme.com) to sign in, schedule, and manage visits.
  2. Create your visitor account - Registration is mandatory at HCDC, so start by setting up your profile in VisitMe.
  3. Use a real, working email address - Your email is how you’ll receive visit confirmations and any cancellation notices.
  4. Finish account setup and sign in - Once your account is created, sign in so you can schedule and manage upcoming visits.
  5. Use GTL support if you get stuck - If you can’t get your account created or you’re locked out, GTL support can help you troubleshoot access to the VisitMe portal.
  • A valid photo ID issued by a federal, state, or local government entity (required for all visitors, including children)

  1. Sign in to VisitMe - Use the Harford County GTL VisitMe portal to access scheduling.
  2. Open the visitation scheduling area - Look for the visitation option where you can choose and manage upcoming visits.
  3. Pick your available date and time - Select the time slot offered in the system for the visit you want.
  4. Confirm your visit - The portal confirms visits instantly, so you should see confirmation right away once you complete the scheduling.
  5. Use pay-per-visit if offered/needed - VisitMe includes a pay-per-visit purchase option within the system when applicable.

Here's where it gets a little confusing. HCDC's visitation info says visits must be scheduled at least 2 days in advance, but the VizManager brochure says 7 days. Your best bet: check what GTL VisitMe actually allows when you try to book, then schedule as early as possible so you don't lose your spot.

In-person visitation at Harford County Detention Center happens on weekends only: Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

On your visit day, arrive at HCDC's main entrance at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time. That buffer matters - show up late, and you may miss your slot entirely.
