How to Send Mail to an Inmate at Cherokee County (new mail-scanning process, what’s allowed, and retrieving scans)
Cherokee County has changed how it handles personal inmate mail. Send letters the old way, and they may never reach your loved one. Here's the new address, what's allowed, and what needs to go somewhere else.
As of December 18, 2023, all personal mail for Cherokee County inmates goes to a central processing facility (JAILATM.com) instead of the jail itself. Staff there open and scan each piece, then email the digital version to your loved one at the jail.
Address personal letters to the processing center exactly like this - include the inmate's name and inmate number: JAILATM.com - Cherokee Sheriff's Office Inmate Name / Inmate Number 925B Peachtree St. NE, Box 2062 Atlanta, GA 30309
The mail-scanning service is free. There's no cost to inmates or the public to have mail opened, scanned, and delivered electronically.
Originals don't stick around. The processing center discards physical mail within 60 days of receipt. If something matters as a keepsake - a birthday card, a one-of-a-kind photo - don't send it. Hold onto the original yourself.
Keep it simple so the scanner can handle it. Each envelope can contain no more than 100 pages, and every page must be 8.5" x 11" or smaller.

Don't send money to the processing center. Cash, money orders, government checks, and personal checks must go directly to the facility. Money orders, cashier's checks, and government checks get credited to the inmate's funds account. Address them to: Inmate Records - Cherokee Sheriff's Office Inmate Name / Inmate ID Number 498 Chattin Drive Canton, GA 30115
Legal mail is another exception. Don't send it to the processing center - mail it directly to the facility and mark the envelope
Need your scanned mail after release? Request digital copies from JailATM.com. You'll need to provide the inmate's full name, the facility name, the inmate ID number, and an email address. Once verified, you'll get an email with a link to download your postal scans.
