How to Visit Facility

You'll need approval before you can visit. Start by filling out the Visitation Request Form and submitting it to the facility where your loved one is housed.

Getting approved and scheduling a visit are two separate steps. Once you're approved, submit a request through the GDC Request a Visit form to book your time slot.

How to Visit Facility
  1. Get approved to visit: Complete the Visitation Request Form and submit the completed form to the facility where the inmate is incarcerated.
  2. Request a scheduled visit: Submit your request through the GDC Request a Visit form.
  • If you already scheduled a visit and need to add someone, use the “Add Visitor” link to find your scheduled visitation and add additional visitors.
  • If you need to cancel a scheduled visitation appointment, use the “Cancel my visit” link to find and cancel the visit.

Tip: For changes to an existing appointment, use the “Add Visitor” or “Cancel my visit” links so you can locate the scheduled visit first, then update it.

Before submitting anything, confirm you have the current Visitation Request Form. Check with Harris County C.I. on how they want it submitted (mail, email, or another method). Using the wrong process can delay your application.

When you're ready to schedule, make sure you're using the correct GDC Request a Visit form. If you need to change an appointment later, the "Add Visitor" and "Cancel my visit" links are the tools to use. Rules and timeframes can vary, so confirm any facility-specific requirements before your visit.
