Before Your First Visit to 1200 Baker: Accepted and Unacceptable IDs
Visiting 1200 Baker for the first time? Bring the right photo ID—original, valid, and unaltered—or you'll be turned away at the door.
You must be 17 or older to visit at 1200 Baker. Anyone younger won't be allowed into visitation.
Bring a valid state or federal photo ID to check-in. Staff will verify your identity before letting you through - no photo ID, no visit.
Acceptable IDs
- ✓ Any valid driver’s license issued by any U.S. state
- ✓ Any valid identification card issued by any U.S. state
- ✓ A valid U.S. passport
- ✓ A valid military ID
- ✓ Certain consular identification cards (when accepted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office)
Your ID must be government-issued, include your photo, and still be valid. Using a state driver's license or state ID? Double-check the expiration date before you go. An expired card can end your visit before it begins.
Warning: If your identification is altered in any way, it won’t be accepted for visitation.
Bring the original ID - not a photocopy. Even a clear, legible copy with your photo won't be accepted.
Expired ID? Don't assume you can still get in. An expired state driver's license or identification card without a renewal slip won't be accepted.
If a renewal slip is all you have, expect extra scrutiny at check-in. Bring any supporting documentation and be ready for staff to escalate questions to a supervisor. Your safest bet? Show up with a valid, unexpired photo ID whenever possible.
