Why There's No Visitation on Mondays at Harris County Jail (Baker) — and the Standard Visiting Hours

Harris County Jail doesn't allow in-person visits on Mondays - full stop. The rest of the week follows a consistent pattern: Tuesday through Sunday, visits run in two daily blocks - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. If you're juggling work schedules, rides, or childcare, treat Monday as a hard no and plan for one of those blocks Tuesday–Sunday.

Planning tip: Even though the evening block runs until 10:00 p.m., the last scheduled visit begins at 9:30 p.m.

Why the tight windows? Visitation is a controlled activity inside the facility. Visits can be limited, denied, or revoked if they'd threaten safety, security, or good order - or if visitors break the rules. A structured schedule (including that Monday blackout) helps the jail manage everything smoothly.

This schedule covers Harris County Jail facilities, including the Baker location at 1200 Baker Street. If your loved one is housed at Baker, these are the days and time blocks you'll work with.

Harris County Jail brought back limited in-person visitation on March 29, 2022. That's why visits still follow specific days and scheduled time blocks rather than open-ended hours.

Note: Visitation can still be limited or denied when needed to protect facility safety, security, and order.

Plan Ahead Scheduling

  • Register before you try to schedule a visit.
  • Schedule up to seven days in advance (based on the corresponding facility, day, and floor).
  • On-site registration may be available if you arrive without an appointment, but visitation is not guaranteed.

Planning an evening visit? Build your schedule around the cutoff: the last scheduled visit begins at 9:30 p.m. Don't assume you can show up close to 10:00 p.m. and still get in. If you're registering on-site or squeezing in a last-minute visit, 9:30 is your practical deadline for the night.

Reminder: Visitation is a privilege - it may be denied, revoked, or limited if it would threaten safety, security, or good order, or if visitation rules aren’t followed.
