Hays County Jail Commissary: when orders are processed and what to do if your loved one is released early

Hays County Jail processes commissary order forms Tuesday morning. Miss that window, and your order won't go through until the following week.

Mailing a money order? It must arrive by 8 a.m. Monday to count toward that week's commissary. Include the inmate's full name and their sheriff's personal identification number (SPIN) on the money order. Missing or incorrect info can delay the deposit - and that means no commissary access until it's sorted out.

No refunds: Hays County Jail states there are no refunds on items purchased through commissary, so treat commissary orders as final once they’re placed.

If your loved one places a commissary order and gets released (or transferred) before delivery, the order doesn't follow them. They have seven (7) days from their departure to claim it. Alternatively, they can fill out a release card authorizing another adult to pick up the property. If early release is a possibility, talk through the release-card option ahead of time so you're not scrambling later.
