How to Send Personal Mail to Someone at Hays County Jail (where to address it and what happens next)

Since September 12, 2022, Hays County Law Enforcement Center no longer accepts personal mail directly. Your letter needs to go through an off-site processing center instead. Send it to the wrong place (or format it incorrectly), and it could be delayed or returned. Take an extra minute to get the envelope right.

How to Send Personal Mail to Someone at Hays County Jail (where to address it and what happens next)

Address all personal mail to the Securus Digital Mail Center using this exact format. Include the incarcerated person's full name and ID number, and keep the "C/O Securus Digital Mail Center-Hays County, TX" line exactly as written: Inmate First & Last Name and ID# C/O Securus Digital Mail Center-Hays County, TX PO Box 21167 Tampa, FL 33622

Note: Incorrect addressing can delay your mail or get it returned. Don't send packages or certified mail to this PO Box - those will be sent back to you.

  • Leaving off the inmate’s ID number
  • Forgetting the “C/O Securus Digital Mail Center-Hays County, TX” line
  • Using the jail’s street address instead of the Tampa PO Box

Reminder: Packages and certified mail sent to the Securus processing center will be returned to sender. Double-check your addressing to avoid delays.

When your mail arrives at the Securus Digital Mail Center, staff review it. If approved, it's scanned and made available for your loved one to view on a tablet or kiosk.

The system relies on scanning, so anything that can't be scanned gets returned. That includes non-paper items and paper larger than 8.5 x 11 inches.

Want your original letter, drawings, or photos back after processing? Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your mail. Without one, you won't get the originals back. Securus holds original correspondence for 30 days before destroying it - so include that return envelope upfront if keeping the original matters to you.
