Setting up video visits at Hays County Jail: registration, ID, approval times, and scheduling
  1. Go to the Securus Video Visitation website - This is where Hays County Jail off-site visits are scheduled, so start there.
  2. Create your visitor account - You’ll register as the visitor who will be scheduling the video visit.
  3. Confirm you meet the age requirement - The registering visitor must be at least 17 years old.
  4. Complete the initial registration with ID - During the initial registration process, you must present a valid, government-issued photo ID.

Heads-up: If you’re under 17 or you don’t have a valid government-issued photo ID ready for the initial registration, your setup can stall before you ever get to scheduling.

Approval isn't instant. Hays County Jail typically processes video visit registrations within 24 to 48 hours. If you're aiming for a specific day, factor in that wait time so you're not stuck refreshing the schedule last minute.

Tip: Register at least 48 hours before the day you want to visit so the typical approval window doesn’t squeeze your schedule.

Once approved, you can schedule your off-site video visit through Securus. Each visit lasts 25 minutes, so be ready to sign in and start on time. One thing to keep in mind: inmates are limited to two off-site video visits per day. Popular time slots fill up fast when multiple people want to visit the same person.

  • Plan for a 25-minute session per off-site video visit
  • Remember the inmate limit: two off-site video visits per day
  • If more than two people want to visit in one day, coordinate so you don’t schedule over the daily limit
