How to Set Up Video Visits at Hempstead County Jail
Hempstead County Detention Center offers remote video visitation every day from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. That's a wide window to connect from home instead of making the trip in person.
The video visitation system was installed by CTC Communications Company - the same provider that handles the jail's inmate phone service. According to the sheriff's office, there were no upfront costs to the county for installation or equipment. How does it get funded? The system is designed to pay for itself over about three years through usage fees. After that, the Detention Center receives a monthly commission from the company, similar to the phone system arrangement.
To register and schedule visits online, head to the facility's CityTelecoin visitation website (linked from the sheriff's visitation page). If you already have a CityTelecoin account, log in there. If not, you'll create one and follow the prompts to set up video visitation.
Heads up: When we tested the CityTelecoin visitation site listed by the county, it returned a DNS error and wouldn't load. If you run into the same issue, use the phone option below to get unstuck.
- Try the CityTelecoin visitation portal again later - a DNS error can be temporary, so it may work at a different time.
- Call the Detention Center for help scheduling - staff can be reached at 870-777-7850 and can tell you the next step if the online portal won’t load.
Trying to set up a video visit for someone under 18? Read carefully - the sheriff's visitation information includes two contradictory statements. One section says video visitation "will allow those family members under 18" to visit. Another says the current policy does not allow anyone under 18. Because these statements conflict, call the Detention Center before scheduling so you don't waste time or money on a visit that won't be approved.
If the online portal isn't cooperating, call the Detention Center at 870-777-7850 and ask how to proceed with video visitation scheduling. Need to handle things in person? The sheriff's office is located at 312 South Washington, Hope, AR 71801.
