How Commissary Works at Henry County Jail: Ordering, Limits, Gift Packs, and Indigent Care

Inmates at Henry County Jail can receive commissary twice a week - as long as they don't have disciplinary sanctions. If someone is on a restriction, their commissary access may be suspended until the sanction clears.

Commissary orders aren’t placed by phone or through family members. Inmates place their own orders using the kiosks located in their housing areas.

Henry County Jail limits commissary spending to $50 per store call. If your loved one is trying to stretch funds across the week, that cap is the main number to plan around.

Orders have a set cutoff: 8:45 a.m. each Monday and Thursday. Anything submitted after that won't make it into that order cycle.

Want to send commissary-style items from the outside? Henry County Jail lets family and friends order gift packs online through Access Corrections. This is separate from the inmate's kiosk orders and designed specifically for outside purchases.

Henry County Jail has a process for inmates with no money. If someone has been without funds for more than 14 days, they can qualify for a care package with personal hygiene items plus writing and mailing supplies. Writing and mailing supplies can also be provided free every 14 working days, as long as the inmate is declared indigent.

  1. Ask for an Inmate Request Form - Indigent care packages and supplies must be requested using an Inmate Request Form.
  2. Submit the request for the care package/supplies - Once the form is turned in, staff can review the request and issue eligible indigent items on the facility’s schedule.

Books Packages and Inspections

  • Inmates may have up to three soft-covered books (including commissary puzzle books) in their possession at one time.
  • If more than three books are received, the extra books will be placed with the inmate’s property and held for 15 days before being disposed of.

Packages and other approved items arrive during normal mail distribution hours, handled by an Inmate Relations Officer. Soft-covered books from a publisher or bookstore are allowed. Every package gets inspected for contraband. If someone tries to deliver contraband through a package, they can be banned from the facility - and criminal prosecution may follow for everyone involved.
