Setting Up Video Visits with Someone at Heritage Trails: Register, Schedule, and Pay

Heritage Trails offers video visitation in a couple of formats. Some facilities let you join from home on your own device; others use on-site video stations. Either way, expect the same rules as an in-person visit - you're not walking through the front door, but the facility's visitation policies still apply.

Note: Video visits generally follow the same rules and procedures as in-person visits, but some dress standards that only matter for in-person visitation don’t apply.

  1. Register for a ViaPath account and wait for approval - You must be registered and approved before you can schedule in-person or online visits.
  2. Go to gtlvisitme.com and register everyone who will be on the visit - Add yourself and any other visitors who will participate.
  3. Select the facility and add the incarcerated person - Search for your loved one and add them to your account.
  4. Click “Schedule” and choose an available time slot - Pick the day/time you want from the options shown.
  5. Enter your payment information to finish booking - You’ll enter credit or debit card details to complete the scheduling process.

Tip: Don’t wait until the last minute - approval is required before you can schedule, so start the registration process ahead of the visit you want.

One detail that trips people up: ViaPath lists all visit times in Eastern Time, regardless of where you live. Double-check the time conversion before you confirm a slot - missing a visit because of a timezone mix-up is frustrating.

You'll see the visit price during scheduling, before you finalize anything. Payment happens right on gtlvisitme.com when you book. ViaPath accepts debit cards, charge cards, and Visa/Mastercard gift cards - have your payment method ready before you start picking time slots.

Even on video, the facility treats this like a regular visit. You and your loved one are expected to follow the same rules used for in-person visitation. The main exception: some dress standards only matter when you're physically entering the building. Video visits have their own, more specific clothing requirements.

  • Wear a shirt or blouse
  • Wear pants, shorts, or a dress
  • Wear appropriate undergarments
  • Don’t wear hats or head coverings (unless required by your religious beliefs)
  • Avoid clothing that’s worn out, torn (holes), transparent, or frayed enough that undergarments are visible

Reminder: Treat a video visit like an in-person visit - follow the facility’s visitation rules and make sure your clothing meets the video-visit dress standards, or the visit can be denied.

Don't see an at-home option? The facility may only offer video visits through on-site stations. Check the facility's listed video visit options to confirm what's available. Either way, the same visitation rules apply.
