Before You Go: What You Absolutely Cannot Bring to Hidalgo County Jail Visitation
Visiting someone at Hidalgo County Jail goes smoother when you show up with as little as possible. Here's what you can't bring into the visitation area—know this before you go, so you don't lose time or your visit.
Leave all electronics behind. Cell phones, tablets, cameras, recording devices - none of it can enter the visitation area. Even if it's powered off and tucked in your pocket, having it on you can end your visit before it starts.
Food and drinks aren’t allowed in the visitation areas. Plan to leave snacks, bottled water, coffee - anything like that - in your car before you go in.
Tobacco products can’t enter the visitation areas, and that includes the related items people forget about - like lighters and matches. If it’s used for smoking, assume it needs to stay in your car.
Purses and bags aren't allowed in the visitation area. Bring only the bare minimum - your ID and car keys - and leave everything else locked in your vehicle.
