Sending Books, Magazines, and Religious Materials to an Inmate at Hill-Finklea

Books sent to Hill-Finklea must come directly from the publisher or a bookstore - packages mailed by friends or family won't be accepted. Magazines and newspapers follow the same rule: they need to ship directly from a publisher or bookstore as a mail subscription, not as a one-time package from home.

Religious materials work a bit differently. Hill-Finklea accepts them from publishers or bookstores, but individuals can also mail them directly.

Format matters: Hill-Finklea only accepts soft cover books. Hardcovers get rejected before they reach your loved one. Double-check the listing before placing your order.

Note: For religious materials, soft cover is requested as well. When you have a choice between editions, pick the soft cover option.

Address packages to the detention center's street address with the inmate's name and booking number clearly labeled. Use: Hill-Finklea Detention Center, 300 California Ave., Moncks Corner, SC 29461. Include the inmate's full name (as booked) and booking number on the address.

The facility's mail instructions also show a sample format referencing "c/o Smart Communication" and a PO Box in Pinellas Park, Florida. That's separate from the street address requirement for package delivery.
