Three Ways to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at Hill-Finklea (money order, lobby kiosk, and online)

Hill-Finklea Detention Center gives you three ways to put money onto an inmate’s canteen account: mail a money order, use the lobby kiosk, or make an online deposit. The best option depends on whether you need the funds available right away or you’d rather avoid processing fees.

To send money by mail, purchase a money order made out to the inmate. They can deposit it into their canteen account once it arrives. This works well if you don't mind waiting a few days for delivery and prefer a paper trail.

You can also deposit money in person using the kiosk in the front main lobby of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

  • Pay with cash
  • Pay with a credit card
  • Expect a processing fee for the deposit

The big advantage here is speed - funds hit the inmate's account immediately after you complete the transaction.

Kiosk hours: Monday through Sunday, 8:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m., 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., and during inmate visitation hours.

  1. Get the inmate’s details from the inmate - you’ll need their name, location, and ID number, and the detention center will not provide this information.
  2. Enter the information for the internet deposit - use the inmate’s name, location, and ID number exactly as provided.
  3. Submit the deposit - once the transaction is completed, the funds are available to the inmate.

Online deposits are another fast option. Once your transaction goes through, the inmate can access the funds right away.

The internet deposit service is provided solely by McDaniel Supply Company. Hill-Finklea Detention Center does not control or monitor this service, so issues with an online transaction may involve the vendor’s system rather than the jail itself.
