How to Add Someone to Your Loved One's Visitor List at Hodge Unit

The Hodge Unit caps each inmate's approved Visitors List at 10 names. If your loved one is already at the limit, someone else will need to be removed before you can be added.

List changes aren't unlimited. Institutional inmates can only add or delete names once every six months. State jail, ISF, and SAFP inmates get one change window every 60 days. Plan accordingly if you're hoping to visit soon.

Your loved one has to request adding you - it's their list, so the request comes from their side. The key constraint is timing: institutional inmates can make add/delete changes only once every six months, while state jail, ISF, and SAFP inmates can make changes once every 60 days. If you're not being added right away, they may be waiting for their next change window.

How to Add Someone to Your Loved One's Visitor List at Hodge Unit

You'll need your own account in the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler. TDCJ staff can't create one for you - visitors must set up their own accounts. Staff may help with updates after your account exists, but the initial setup is on you.

  1. Start account creation with your email - In the scheduler, enter a valid email address and submit it to begin.
  2. Use the registration email to verify - You’ll get an email with a 7-digit validation code and a link; use them to complete registration.
  3. Finish the Background Questionnaire - Answer every question. The system won’t let you move forward until the questionnaire is fully completed.

Warning: Once you create a scheduler account for an email address, that account can’t be deleted and the email address can’t be changed. Use an email you expect to keep long-term.

Tips

  • ✓ Use a permanent email address for your scheduler account (the account can’t be deleted and the email can’t be changed later).
  • ✓ Complete every question in the Background Questionnaire, or you won’t be able to finish creating your account.
  • ✓ Enter your phone number as XXX XXX XXXX using spaces (no dashes).

Note: Double-check the email you use before you submit it - TDCJ doesn’t allow email changes or account deletion after the account is created.

Removed from an inmate's Visitors List? You can appeal in writing. Send your appeal to the Director's Review Committee (DRC), PO Box 99, Huntsville, TX 77342. Submit it within 14 days of the date on your written notice of removal.
