How to Set Up a TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account (Hodge Unit visitors)
If you're visiting someone at the Hodge Unit, getting your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account set up correctly the first time saves a lot of back-and-forth. Here are the steps that matter most, plus the common hangups that stop people from booking.
You have to create your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account. TDCJ staff can't do it for you. Once your account exists, staff can help update certain details like names and addresses, but the initial setup is entirely on you.
Pick your email address carefully before you register. Once an account is created for an email in the TDCJ scheduler, that account can't be deleted and the email can't be changed. Use an address you plan to keep long-term, not a temporary one or one you might lose access to.
- Start account creation with your email. Enter a valid email address and submit it.
- Check your email for the validation message. The system sends a 7-digit validation code by email.
- Return to the scheduler and enter the code. Use the 7-digit code to validate your registration.
- Create and confirm your password. Follow the password requirements shown on the screen, then submit.
- Complete the Background Questionnaire. Answer every question, then submit to move forward.
Heads up: You can't finish creating your account unless every Background Questionnaire question is answered.
When filling out your visitor profile, pay close attention to the phone number field. The scheduler requires the format XXX XXX XXXX with spaces, not dashes. Get the format wrong and the system may flag your profile as incomplete.
- Add the inmate to your profile. Use the Add Inmate option and search using their TDCJ or SID number.
- Enter the full 8-digit number. The inmate TDCJ or SID number must be 8 digits long.
- Look it up if you do not have it. Use the TDCJ Offender Search tool to find the correct 8-digit TDCJ/SID number, then return and enter it in the scheduler.
Sometimes everything looks right, but you still can't schedule online. If the Schedule Visit button is blank or replaced with "Call Unit," you'll need to call the inmate's unit of assignment to book the visit by phone. The same applies if you're trying to book for someone housed at the Hodge Unit and the scheduler won't let you select a time.
- ✓ If the scheduler shows “Call Unit” (or no Schedule Visit button), call the inmate’s unit of assignment to schedule your visit.
- ✓ Before you travel, confirm the inmate is assigned to the unit you plan to visit and has visitation privileges. Call the unit for final confirmation since visitation information is updated daily (and more often on visitation days).
The TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler is only available to residents of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. If you live outside those countries, you may not be able to use the online system.
