Visitation

What to Know Before Your First Visit to Hodge Unit (checklist)

2 min read Verified from official sources

Before you make the drive, confirm two things: that your loved one is currently housed at the Hodge Unit, and that they have visitation privileges. A quick phone call can save you from showing up at the wrong place, on the wrong day, or for a visit that can't happen.

Tip: Call the unit for final confirmation before you travel. Visitation info can be updated daily and may change multiple times on visitation days.

Standard visiting hours are Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Schedules are managed at the unit level, though, so confirm the current schedule before you go.

If you're 18 or older, bring a current, government-issued photo ID. Staff will check it at the door, and showing up without one is the fastest way to get turned away.

ID detail: At least one of your identification documents needs to show a current physical address. An exception may be made for victims of family violence who have been certified by the attorney general to have address protection.

Prohibited Items

  • Cell phones (not allowed inside the secure perimeter)
  • Smartwatches
  • Laptop computers
  • Cameras
  • Digital recorders
  • Paper money
  • Tobacco
  • Lighters

Leave your cash at home. The only exception is coins, and even then the total can't exceed $35.

During a contact visit, physical contact is limited. You're allowed one embrace and kiss at the beginning and one at the end. Keep greetings and goodbyes brief.

Contact visit rule: Holding hands is allowed, but only if your hands stay on top of the table and in full view of staff.

  1. Call the unit to confirm the visit , schedules are updated frequently, and cancellations can happen.
  2. Bring a current government-issued photo ID (18+) , you will need it at check-in.
  3. Bring only coins for cash , and keep it at $35 or less.
  4. Leave prohibited items behind , especially your cell phone. No cell phones are allowed inside the secure perimeter (and devices like smartwatches, cameras, and recorders can be considered contraband).
  5. Assume the visit may be electronically monitored , all inmate visits other than attorney-client visits are subject to electronic monitoring.
