Three Ways to Send Money to an Inmate at Huron County Jail

Sending money by mail? Address it to: Huron County Jail Attn: (Inmate Name) 120 S. Heisterman St. Bad Axe, MI 48413

Send a check or money order made payable to

Note: Before you mail anything, double-check you’ve written the inmate’s name the same way the jail has it on file and that your envelope is addressed exactly as shown.

If you’re dropping off money in person, bring the exact amount in cash. Huron County’s rule is strict: exact cash is required, with no exceptions.

No cash? You can write a check payable to “H.C.S.O.” instead. Don’t plan on paying with plastic - credit and debit cards aren’t accepted for this.

Note: Procedures can vary by day and staffing. Call ahead to confirm where to go, what hours drop-offs are handled, and any check-in steps you’ll need to follow.

Once funds hit the account, inmates can spend them at commissary. At Huron County Jail, calling cards are available for $10 each.

Checklist-before-sending

  • If you’re mailing funds, use a check or money order payable to “Huron County Jail,” and put the inmate’s name on the memo line.
  • If you’re paying in person with cash, bring the exact amount (no exceptions).
  • If you don’t have cash for an in-person drop, use a check payable to “H.C.S.O.”
  • Keep a copy of your money order/check and any receipt until the funds show up.

Note: If you’re unsure which option will post fastest or you have questions about drop-off handling, contact the jail directly before you send money.
