Hutchison State Jail follows the standard TDCJ visiting schedule: Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. That said, unit operations can shift and exceptions pop up. Call ahead to confirm before you make the drive - especially if you're coming from out of town.

TDCJ tracks visits using a "visiting cycle" that runs Monday through Sunday. This is key: your loved one's allowed visits reset each Monday, not by calendar weekend or your personal travel schedule. Planning around work or childcare? Think in terms of which Monday–Sunday cycle you're using. You don't want to schedule a trip that falls in the same cycle as a visit that already happened.

Each visit lasts two hours. The clock starts when both you and the inmate are present in the visiting area. Show up late and you'll likely lose that time - it doesn't pause for you. Build in extra time for check-in so you're ready when your loved one arrives.

Contact visit frequency depends on custody level. Under the I-218 custody-level chart, inmates classified as G1, J1, or J2 can receive one contact visit per week. Not sure what custody level your loved one has? Confirm it before planning multiple trips close together - the unit will follow the frequency tied to that classification.
