Getting Approved for the Visiting List at Hutchinson: What the Resident and Visitor Need to Do
Getting on the approved visiting list at Hutchinson starts with the resident. Once you're approved, you'll still need to schedule each visit ahead of time.
The resident kicks off the visiting-list paperwork at Hutchinson. They get the visitor request form from their unit counselor and mail it to the people they want to add. You can't start this process on your own. Wait for the resident to send you the form.
Note: You cannot be admitted for an in-person visit until your visitor application has been approved.
Once you get the visitor request form, fill it out completely and mail it back to the facility. The review includes a criminal background check for all visitors, so expect some processing time before you hear back.
Approval is just the first step. To actually get through the door, you need to schedule a visitation appointment through ICSolutions or by calling the facility's visitation clerk. Scheduling closes 72 hours before visitation begins that week, so don't wait until the last minute.
Each resident can have a maximum of 20 approved visitors on their list. If the list is already full, someone will need to be removed before a new person can be added.
Have more than one loved one in KDOC custody? You can be on multiple visiting lists, but only if you're an immediate family member to each resident.
If you can't use the online scheduler or need to confirm whether you're approved, call Hutchinson Correctional Facility's Visitation Clerk at 620-662-2321. This is also the number to use when you need to schedule by phone.
Note: This brief does not cover approval timelines or the details of appeals if someone is denied. For the most accurate guidance on those two topics, check with the visitation clerk.
