Each resident at Hutchinson can have up to 20 people on their approved visitor list. Not on the list? You won't get in. Plan early, especially if the resident has a large circle of family and friends hoping to visit.
Note: Everyone who applies to visit goes through a criminal background check as part of the approval process, so getting on the list isn’t instant.
Even if the resident has submitted your name and you've booked travel, you cannot visit until your application is approved. Staff will turn you away at the door if your approval isn't complete.

This isn't something residents can change whenever they want. They can update their primary visitor once every six months - so choose carefully, especially if your family situation might shift.
Children can visit, but they need to be approved too. Being related to the resident isn't enough - the child must be on the approved visitation list.
Minors can't come in with just anyone. The adult accompanying them must also be an approved visitor and must be the child's parent or legal guardian.
- Have the resident request the form - The resident gets the visitor request form from their unit counselor.
- Wait for the resident to mail it to you - The resident mails the request form to the people they want to add to their visiting list.
- Complete the application and mail it back - You fill out the form and mail it back to the facility for review and approval.
- The facility runs a background check - A criminal background check is completed on all prospective visitors as part of the process.
- Don’t plan a visit until you’re approved - No visitors are allowed into the facility until the application has been approved.

- ✓ Ask the resident to request and mail the visitor form as early as possible (it has to come from the resident through the unit counselor).
- ✓ Fill out the form completely and mail it back promptly, since it must be returned to the facility for review and approval.
