What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) for Your Visit to Hutchinson Correctional Facility

Bring a government-issued photo ID. Hutchinson Correctional Facility checks identification at the door - a driver's license or state ID card works.

Bringing a child without photo ID? For visitors under 16, a copy of their official state-issued birth certificate will work instead.

Kids can't just tag along. A child may visit only if they're on the resident's approved visitation list. The adult bringing them must also be approved - and must be the child's parent or legal guardian.

Watch your group size. Each resident can have up to four visitors at a single visit, so count heads before you schedule and make the trip.

There's also a cap on the overall approved list: each resident can have a maximum of 20 approved visitors total.

Denials and Termination

  • Arriving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Showing up when there is insufficient space available
  • Refusing to submit to a search (per IMPP 12-115, “Search of Visitors”)

Note: Staff may search you as part of the visit process. Refuse the search under IMPP 12-115, and the shift supervisor can end your visit.
