What you can and can’t do during a visit at Hutchinson (contact, children, and searches)

Visits at Hutchinson allow limited physical contact. You can share a hug and a brief kiss at the start and end of your visit - but that's it. Hand-holding during the visit isn't permitted, so save the physical connection for those quick hellos and goodbyes.

You'll go through security screening when you arrive. Visitors - including children - can be searched to prevent contraband from entering or leaving the facility. If you're bringing kids, give them a heads-up beforehand and keep them close during check-in. It makes the whole process easier.

What you can and can’t do during a visit at Hutchinson (contact, children, and searches)
  1. Leave problem items behind - Don’t bring cell phones, tobacco, or tobacco-related items with you; they’re specifically treated as contraband.
  2. Plan for searches (including for kids) - Since visitors and children can be searched to prevent contraband, keep children with you and ready to follow staff directions.
  3. Cooperate with required screening - Refusing a search required under IMPP 12-115 can mean you’re denied entry or your visiting privileges are suspended.

Warning: Refusing a required visitor search (IMPP 12-115) can get you turned away at the door - and may result in suspended visiting privileges.
