The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) partners with ViaPath and its subsidiaries to handle deposits into offender trust accounts. When you go to send money, you'll see names like ConnectNetwork, TouchPay, and Western Union. This setup gives you multiple ways to deposit - web, phone, in-person, or mail.

Need money to arrive fast? Web, mobile, phone, and walk-in deposits through the vendor typically post to the offender's account by the next business day.

Here's something that catches people off guard: only approved visitors can deposit funds into an offender's account. If your deposit keeps getting blocked, check your visitor status first.

Online and mobile deposits through ViaPath/ConnectNetwork are the easiest option, especially when timing matters. Funds typically hit the offender's account by the next business day. If you run into an error during checkout or your deposit doesn't post when expected, the vendor can help you sort it out.

Prefer to mail a money order? NCDAC routes these through TouchPay, not the prison. Make the money order payable to TouchPay and mail it with a deposit slip to: TouchPay Holdings, LLC, PO Box 174, Houston, TX 77001-0174.

Mailed money orders take longer. Plan for up to ten business days before funds become available, though TouchPay tries to process them sooner when possible.

Reminder: Prison facilities do not accept or process money orders directly. Use the TouchPay mailing process, and plan for up to ten business days for funds to be available.

Fees vary by method and amount. NCDAC publishes a Money Transfer Fees schedule (effective August 1, 2023) covering online, phone, money order, and Western Union deposits. Check that schedule before you choose how to send money.

If a deposit fails or doesn't post, contact the vendor - not the prison. NCDAC uses ViaPath and its subsidiaries (ConnectNetwork, TouchPay) for all deposits, so they're the ones who can troubleshoot problems or handle refunds. Call ViaPath's toll-free line at 877-650-4249.

  • Keep your receipt, confirmation number, or any transaction details from the deposit you attempted.
  • Double-check the offender information you entered (especially the ID number and facility selection) before you submit another deposit.
  • If you mailed a money order, keep a copy of the money order and the deposit slip you used.
  • If funds still haven’t arrived within the expected timeframe, call ViaPath’s toll-free assistance line at 877-650-4249.
