Imperial County Jail enforces a strict visitor dress code. Staff will check your clothing during the visit process, and you may be searched. Dress simply and conservatively to avoid delays or getting turned away at the door.

  • Low-cut shirts
  • Short shorts
  • Tank tops, spaghetti straps, or strapless clothing
  • See-through clothing
  • Dresses or skirts that are shorter than mid-thigh

Note: Staff enforce these clothing rules, and visitors are subject to search. If your clothing does not meet the guidelines, you may not be allowed to visit.

When deciding what to wear, use the prohibited items list as your guide. Aim for "no questions asked" clothing. Pick a top that isn't low-cut and skip anything in the tank top, spaghetti strap, or strapless category. For bottoms, avoid short shorts. If you're wearing a dress or skirt, make sure the hem hits at least mid-thigh or longer.

  • Choose a shirt with a higher neckline (low-cut shirts are not allowed).
  • Skip short shorts (they are not allowed).
  • Avoid tank tops, spaghetti straps, and strapless tops (they are not allowed).
  • If you wear a dress or skirt, keep it mid-thigh length or longer (shorter than mid-thigh is not allowed).

Skip see-through clothing entirely. Any sheer or transparent materials are not allowed.
