How Often and How Many: Visitor Limits & Visitation Rights at Imperial County Jail

Imperial County Jail allows a maximum of two visitors per visit. Planning to bring more than two adults or rotate family members through the same time slot? You'll need to spread those visits across different days.

Kids count toward that two-visitor limit once they can walk. Two adults plus a walking child would put you over the cap.

Babies-in-arms are different - they don't count toward the visitor limit. However, no more than two babies-in-arms are allowed per inmate during a visit. Bringing an infant or twins? Keep that cap in mind when deciding who's coming with you.

The jail guarantees inmates a minimum of two visits totaling one hour per week. This is a floor, not a promise of unlimited visiting time whenever you want it.

There's also a daily cap: one visit per day per inmate. Even if different people want to visit, those visits can't be stacked on the same day.

To use the full weekly minimum (two visits totaling one hour), plan for at least two separate days. Decide in advance who your two visitors will be for each visit - especially if a walking child is coming, since they count toward the limit. Bringing a baby-in-arms? They don't count as a visitor, but the two-baby cap might affect who else can reasonably join you.
