How to Register for Visits at Indiana Women's Prison (ViaPath): Step-by-step Guide
Visiting someone at Indiana Women's Prison starts online. Before you can schedule an in-person or video visit, you'll need to create a ViaPath account and get approved.
You can't just show up at Indiana Women's Prison or pick a time slot without preparation. The Indiana Department of Correction requires every visitor to register for a ViaPath account and be approved first - whether you want an in-person visit or a video call. No registration, no visit.
- Create your ViaPath account - Registration is free, and it’s the starting point for the IDOC visitation process.
- Fill out the electronic visitation application (State Form 14387) - Complete the form carefully, using your own information.
- Submit the application in ViaPath - Once it’s submitted, you’ll move into the approval process. You must be approved before you can schedule an in-person or online visit.
Step2 Upload Docs
- ✓ A photo ID for every visitor age 16 and older (accepted forms include a valid driver’s license, state photo ID, military ID, passport, or other government ID, including foreign government IDs)
- ✓ Any other supplemental documentation requested for your situation
- ✓ Electronic submission of these documents to the Facility Visitation Coordinator for the facility you want to visit
Warning: If you don’t submit the required supplemental documentation, your application can be delayed or rejected. Make sure your uploads are clear and readable before you send them.
When scheduling in ViaPath, watch the time zone. All visit times are listed in Eastern Time, even if you're in a different zone. Double-check the conversion before confirming so you don't book the wrong slot.
After you submit your application, Indiana DOC runs criminal background and warrant checks on every applicant age 16 and older. If an active warrant shows up, facility Investigations and Intelligence staff and/or a Correctional Police Officer will review the application as part of the decision process.
Your application and documents go through a review process, and you'll be notified whether you're approved or denied. Since approval is required before scheduling, double-check that your ViaPath account and application are fully complete before you start waiting.
Tips Avoid Delays
- ✓ Answer every application question fully and truthfully
- ✓ Upload a clear, readable photo ID for each visitor age 16+ (driver’s license, state photo ID, military ID, passport, or other government ID, including foreign)
- ✓ Submit the required supplemental documentation electronically to the Facility Visitation Coordinator for the facility you want to visit
- ✓ Don’t leave out required documents - missing supplemental documentation can delay your application or cause it to be rejected
Important: Falsifying information on a visitation application leads to a one-year ban from all correctional facilities.
