Why Visitor Photography Is Currently Suspended at RIDOC Facilities
RIDOC has suspended visitor photographs until further notice. This isn't limited to one building or one visit type. It applies across all RIDOC facilities. You may still see the notice posted at the Anthony P. Travisono Intake Service Center (ISC), but the bottom line is the same wherever you're visiting: visitor photos are on pause.
If you're used to having a visitor photo taken during check-in, that step is being skipped for now. Everything else about the process stays the same. Bring your government-issued photo ID anyway. RIDOC still requires all visitors to show proper identification before entering, and staff will check it at the door. Examples of valid ID include a valid driver's license, a military ID card, or an ID card issued by the Departments of Transportation, Elderly Affairs, or the Division of Motor Vehicles. Social Security cards and Welfare ID cards are not accepted. A birth certificate counts as valid identification only for a minor.
- Call before you go: Confirm the visitor photography suspension is still in effect for the facility you are visiting.
- Ask about exceptions: If you have a specific need related to the photo suspension, ask staff what your options are while the department-wide pause is in place.
- Verify what you need to bring: Double-check ID requirements so you are not turned away at entry.
