How to Send Money to Someone at ICIW (Why It Must Go to Fort Dodge and How to Do It)

Iowa uses a centralized system for offender spending accounts. For ICIW, this means all commissary deposits must be sent to Fort Dodge Correctional Facility (FDCF) - not to ICIW directly.

Mailing a deposit? Send it to the centralized address: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account, 1550 L Street, Suite B, Fort Dodge, IA 50501. Only cashier's checks or money orders are accepted, and they must be made payable to "IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account."

  • Include the offender’s name and offender number on the cashier’s check or money order.
  • Include the sender’s name and complete address.
  • Make sure all writing is legible; if it doesn’t follow these guidelines, the deposit will be returned to the sender by mail.

Note: Money orders and cashier’s checks are no longer accepted by drop-off at any institution. If you’re sending a mailed deposit, the only option is to mail it to the Fort Dodge address.

Don't want to mail anything? You can send funds electronically through Access Corrections, JPay, or Western Union. These options work well if you need the money to arrive quickly or prefer paying by card.

  • Access Corrections accepts Visa and MasterCard-branded credit or debit cards, and lists deposit rates starting at $3.49.
  • Western Union by phone: call 1-800-634-3422 and choose option 2; a credit or debit card is required.
  • With Western Union, you’ll need the recipient’s commissary number (inmate number) and the name of the correctional facility.

Whichever method you choose, double-check the details. Include the offender's full name and offender number. For mailed deposits, add your name and complete return address. Sloppy handwriting or incorrect formatting means your deposit gets returned - adding days or weeks of delay. Once processed, offenders receive receipts per their institution's guidelines. Questions about deposits? Contact the Business Office at the facility where the offender is housed.
