Iowa DOC offers both in-person and video visits at no cost for approved friends and family. Here's the key thing: every visit - whether in person or by video - gets scheduled through the Ameelio App.

You'll need to complete the Iowa DOC Visitor Application on paper - electronic submissions aren't accepted. Print the application, sign it, and mail it in. Multiple adults visiting? Each person needs their own application. Spouses, partners, grandparents - anyone 18 or older who wants to be on the approved list must complete, sign, and mail their own separate application to Central Records.

Mail Visitor Applications to: Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility, Attn: Central Records, 1200 E. Washington St., Mount Pleasant, IA 52641.

Bringing a child? Don't fill out a separate application for them. Minors get listed on their parent's or legal guardian's Visitor Application.

Approval is tied to the individual, not the household. Every adult visitor must submit their own Visitor Application - so each person who wants to visit needs to complete, sign, and mail their own paperwork.

Once you're approved, you'll schedule visits through the Ameelio App. Iowa DOC uses Ameelio for both in-person and video visits - same app for both. Not approved yet? Focus on your application first. Scheduling comes after approval.

Note: Ameelio staff can’t approve or deny visitation requests. Visitation approval decisions are handled by facility staff.
