How to Apply for Visiting and Schedule Visits at Iowa Medical and Classification Center (IMCC)
Visiting at IMCC is a two-step process: get approved through a printed visitor application, then schedule your in-person or video visit using the Ameelio App. Here's how to do both without hitting roadblocks.
The Iowa Department of Corrections offers both in-person and video visits at no cost - but you need approval before you can schedule either one. Every adult visitor must submit their own printed and signed Visitor Application. Bringing kids? Minors don't need separate applications. Instead, list them on the parent or legal guardian's form.
- Get the Visitor Application and print it - Iowa DOC does not accept electronic applications, so you’ll need a paper copy.
- Fill it out completely and sign it - make sure the form is signed before you send it.
- Mail the printed, signed application to Central Records - send it to Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility, Attn: Central Records (this is where applications are processed).
Reminder: Every adult must submit and sign their own printed application. Minors must be listed on a parent or legal guardian’s application, and applications have to be mailed - electronic submissions aren’t accepted.

Once you're approved, you'll schedule visits through the Ameelio App. Iowa DOC uses Ameelio for both in-person and video visit scheduling. Download the app and set up your account before you try to book - it'll save you time.

Good to know: Ameelio is only the scheduling tool. Ameelio staff can’t approve or deny visits - facility staff make those decisions, so build in time for the review process.
If your visitation request is denied, you can appeal in writing. Mail your appeal to the Central Visiting Authority at Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility (Iowa DOC provides the mailing address). Include all relevant details so staff can review your case.
