How to Mail Letters and Photos to IMCC: Use Pigeonly and Facility Code 1108

All incoming non-legal mail for Iowa DOC facilities (including IMCC) must go to a central mail processing PO Box run by Pigeonly: PO Box 96777, Las Vegas, NV 89193. Don't address everyday letters, cards, or other non-legal mail directly to IMCC - it'll be returned to you instead of delivered.

When your mail arrives at the processing center, Pigeonly opens it and scans it into a digital color copy. That copy gets printed and delivered to the correct Iowa DOC facility. The originals aren't returned - they're temporarily stored and then securely destroyed under Iowa DOC policy.

Your envelope needs four pieces of information: the incarcerated person's name, their Offender ID number, the facility name (IMCC), and the facility ID number (1108). Send it to the central processing address - not the prison: PO Box 96777, Las Vegas, NV 89193. The Offender ID and IMCC facility code together are what route your mail correctly through the system.

  • Incarcerated individual’s name
  • Offender ID number
  • Iowa Medical and Classification Center (IMCC)
  • Facility code: 1108
  • PO Box 96777
  • Las Vegas, NV 89193

Note: Non-legal mail sent directly to an Iowa DOC facility will be returned to the sender, not forwarded.

Iowa DOC uses Pelipost as the approved photo print provider across all facilities. After screening and approval, Pelipost prints and ships physical photos directly to the correctional facility. You can order 4x6 or 5x7 photos, up to 10 per order.

You can also mail photos through U.S. Mail using the same Pigeonly central address. Pigeonly offers additional paid options for photo and messaging services if you want them.

Tip: Whether you’re mailing photos or placing a photo order, include the Offender ID number and the IMCC facility code (1108) so it routes to the right place.

Practical Tips

Before you drop anything in the mailbox, double-check you're sending non-legal mail to the central processing PO Box - not to IMCC itself. Iowa DOC's rule is straightforward: non-legal mail addressed directly to an IDOC facility gets returned. That can add a lot of delay.

Keep in mind: Because mail is scanned and processed, originals are not returned and may be securely destroyed after temporary storage.

Want professionally printed photos delivered to the facility? Pelipost orders are capped at 10 photos, in 4x6 or 5x7 sizes. If you'd rather mail photos yourself, send them to the Pigeonly central address. Pigeonly also has optional paid photo and messaging services.
