How to Send Money to Facility

All incoming money for offender spending and commissary is processed centrally at Fort Dodge Correctional Facility (FDCF). You won't send funds to individual institutions. Everything goes through Fort Dodge.

If you're sending money by mail, it must be a cashier's check or money order. Make it payable to "IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account" and include the offender's name and offender number, plus your name and complete return address. All of that is needed for the deposit to be properly credited.

Mail cashier's checks and money orders to: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account, 1550 L Street, Suite B, Fort Dodge, IA 50501. Drop-offs at individual institutions are no longer accepted, so mailing to this central address is the only option for paper deposits.

Don't want to mail a payment? You can also send commissary funds electronically through Access Corrections, JPay, or Western Union.

Not every payment type goes through Fort Dodge's central offender banking process. Restitution, court filing fees, and child support are handled separately by the Iowa State Penitentiary.

Steps to Follow

  • Get a cashier’s check or money order (no other deposit types).
  • Make it payable to: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account.
  • Include: offender name, offender number, sender’s name, and sender’s complete address.
  • Mail it to: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account, 1550 L Street, Suite B, Fort Dodge, IA 50501.
  • Do not try to drop it off at an institution. Drop-offs are no longer accepted.
  1. Pick an electronic service: Use Access Corrections, JPay, or Western Union.
  2. Follow the provider’s send-money process: Select the option to send funds to the offender’s commissary account.
  3. Double-check the recipient details before you submit: Use the offender’s identifying information so the deposit goes to the right account.

Heads up: Do not send restitution, court filing fees, or child support through the Fort Dodge (FDCF) commissary deposit process. Those payments are handled by the Iowa State Penitentiary.

How to Send Money to Facility

Before mailing anything, double-check that you're using the exact payee name, "IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account," and the correct central mailing address in Fort Dodge. Getting either of those wrong can mean your deposit gets returned.

  • Offender name
  • Offender number
  • Sender’s name
  • Sender’s complete address

Policies can shift, so it's worth confirming the current accepted methods right before you send funds. Specifically, verify that paper deposits still need to be mailed (not dropped off) and that the electronic options (Access Corrections, JPay, Western Union) are still available for commissary deposits.

Reminder: Restitution, court filing fees, and child support are handled separately by the Iowa State Penitentiary. If you need to pay one of those, confirm the correct process before sending any money.
